The Rajasthan Board of Secondary Education (RBSE) announced Class 12 results of Science and Commerce streams on Monday.
Girls, with 93.4 and 95.5 pass percentage respectively in the two streams, once again outshone boys whose pass percentage was 90.03 and 89.45.
However, the RBSE did not announce any merit list this year. “The practice will stop competition among schools and will also lessen burden among students,” said board chairman BL Chudhary.
There are many states in the country which do not announce any merit list, he said.
In the science stream, 2,29,351 students appeared in the examination out of which (52,466/65,200) 80.46% girls and 67.7% (1,11,134/1,64,151) boys passed in first division. Similarly, in commerce, 46,877 students appeared in the examination and 71.48% girls and 44.59% boys passed in first division.
Minister of state for education Vasudev Devnani who declared the results said, “The state of education has improved in government schools over the last three years.”
Over the last four years, the results of government schools have shown a northward movement both quantitative and qualitative wise, Devnani said.
“In science stream, students who scored a first division increased from 33.94% in 2014 to 57.51% in 2017, and students who scored 75% and above marks rose from 3.96% to 11.49%, thereby showing a two-fold increase,” he said.
In commerce stream, government school students scoring 75% and above rose from 3.68% to 6.96% while the first division pass percentage increased from 29.06% to 41.10%.
